Hammered Black Ceramic Ring with Vintage 'Funkite' Inlay

This is a beautiful, handcrafted Artisan ring made in my small shop in Ottawa, Ontario, in Canada. This design is offered with a stunning and rare 'Funkite' vintage paint inlay in a hammered and brushed black comfort fit ceramic core. Funkite is a unique, man-made lapidary material consisting of accumulated layers of fluorescent paint overspray, much like "Fordite". It gets its name and psychedelic, UV-reactive properties from the vibrant paints used for Grateful Dead stage equipment, props, and outdoor art displays in the 1960s and 70s. The material originates from a facility in North Carolina. Because the layers of paint are baked and hardened over time, artisans and rockhounds can cut, shape, and polish this hardened "paint slag" into colorful, lightweight cabochons and unique jewelry pieces. It is particularly sought after because it fluoresces (and sometimes phosphoresces) brightly under black light, giving it a trippy, layered glow. Due to its relative rarity, rough pieces are primarily sold on specialized mineral and lapidary sites, while finished jewelry is popular on platforms like Etsy. RING CARE:

The rings are all well stabilised, but it is advised to avoid prolonged submersion in water, such as for bathing, swimming, or doing dishes (particularly for the wood rings). Your ring will last many years if cared for properly. An occasional light buffing with wood or metal appropriate polish will keep your handmade ring looking great. Please avoid harsh abrasives.
